Counseling is a confidential process designed to help you address a wide variety of personal concerns by coming to a greater understanding of yourself and learning more effective coping strategies. Counseling is a collaborative partnership between you and a trained, non-judgmental counselor who has a desire to help you accomplish your individual goals.
LCC Counseling Services are free to all currently enrolled students and can help students manage stress, anxiety, depression, personal loss, relationships, substance abuse, family matters, and more. LCC’s state-licensed professional counselors provide support for all circumstances and stressors that affect a student’s academic performance.

Counseling Appointments
How do I meet with an LCC counselor?
Appointments can be made online [Link to “Meet the Counselors” section of the page], by phone at 517-483-1924, or in person at the Center for Student Support.
Counselors offer appointments in person, by phone, and online via Webex.
How many times can I meet with a counselor?
It is expected that students will be able to address their issues with a counselor in ten sessions or less. Extensions will be considered and students are allowed to return at a later date if needed. If the student needs extensive therapy, the counselor will assist the student in finding a counselor in the community.
How long are appointments?
Counseling sessions can last up to 50 minutes. This gives the counselor a 10-minute period to prepare for their next appointment and lets you get to your classes on time.
What if I need to cancel an appointment?
Once you make an appointment, that time has been reserved specifically for you. It is your responsibility to notify our office in advance to cancel an appointment (if possible, at least 24 hours in advance). Failure to assume this responsibility prevents us from scheduling an appointment for another student in that time slot or from using it in the most effective way possible. Unfortunately, we can all forget at times. If you do forget your appointment, please call and let us know so we can reschedule you for another counseling session.

Uwill is a supplemental counseling option that offers free, immediate access to teletherapy for current LCC students. LCC counselors offer appointments during college business hours. Uwill is an alternative that offers service 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Uwill may be a convenient option for students who would like to:
- Choose a therapist based on preferences (gender, language, ethnicity, focus area).
- Schedule at a time that fits their schedule (day, night, weekend, holidays).
- Make an appointment sooner than an LCC counselor may be available.
There is a three-session limit and this is only available to current LCC students.
To get started with Uwill, create an account with your LCC student email.
