The U.S. Department of Homeland Security announced on July 6 that it was going to prohibit students with F-1 visas from taking more than one class online each semester.
During the spring 2020 semester, USDHS said it intended to be flexible with how courses were being taught due to the pandemic, even though the typical regulation for students with F-1 visas allowed only one online course per semester. On July 6, without warning USDHS revoked that flexibility. After lawsuits were filed, the ruling regarding all online format was rescinded on July 14.
LCC's three instruction format options (Online, Online Real-Time, and Online hybrid hands-on) for the fall semester are all considered online. LCC's F-1 visa students currently in the U.S. will be able to continue taking their classes in the online format for the fall 2020 semester.
LCC's F-1 students who left the U.S. during the spring semester and continued their classes from their home countries will be able to continue to take all online courses and return to LCC without interruption once face-to-face classes are safe.
