EDF Grants - FAQ

There is an application period in the Fall and the Spring semester each year.

Each grant is worth up to $3,000. 

The number and value of grants vary each semester based on available funds, application quantity and application quality.

LCC employees (excluding student employees) who have been members of the Employee Development Fund for at least six consecutive months are eligible for the grants.

Yes, you may apply. When submitting your application, be sure to note any additional sources of funding (LCC department, other grants, personal funds, etc.) Make sure to address whether the other sources of funding are secured and, if not, when they may be secured.

No, EDF grants will only be considered for future projects.

No, EDF grants cannot be paid directly to the grantee for work performed. All expenses must be documented with detailed receipts for reimbursement.

If a proposal benefits multiple employees, all employees of the proposal must be qualified EDF members and must each submit a grant application.

No, EDF grants cannot be used to cover costs associated with or incurred during:

• Sabbaticals
• Professional development leave
• Post-secondary degree programs

The EDF Committee is interested in promoting employees' interests across all areas. Some past grants that have been approved include:

• Robotics Kits
• Online training
• Conference registration & travel
• Stained glass workshop
• Knitting workshop
• Creating a local chapter of a professional organization
• Equipment

The above list is not comprehensive, but covers many of the over 160 grants issued over the years.

Your administrative supervisor must review and approve the grant application, and then your Executive Leadership Team (ELT) member (i.e., Dean) must review and approve the application.

The committee greatly values supervisor and ELT feedback regarding how they support the grant application and considers such comments when selecting recipients.

Without approval from the supervisor and the ELT member, the committee cannot consider an application.

Fall grants are reviewed and grantees selected at the October EDF Committee meeting. You will be notified of the status of your application within one week of the meeting.

Spring grants are reviewed and grantees selected at the February EDF Committee meeting. You will be notified of the status of your application within one week of the meeting.

EDF Committee meetings are generally held on the 3^rd Tuesday of the month.

You will receive an email with instructions on how to move forward with your grant. The email will include a grant award letter, an EDF Grant Funding Request form and an EDF Grant Reporting form.

To be considered for future grants, all grant recipients must submit a Grant Report within 90 days of the end of their grant project.

If you are not selected to receive a grant, you will receive a letter that will outline the decision and reasoning of the committee regarding your grant application.

The EDF Committee's grant decisions are final and cannot be appealed. If you feel that a material error of fact has been made regarding your grant application, please reach out to the EDF Liaison via email (Scott Skowronek, skowr1@lcc.edu) to discuss your concerns. If a material error of fact is discovered, the committee may reconsider the grant application.
