Lansing Community College

College Connect program is aimed at helping recent graduates who may have experienced interruptions to in-person learning due to COVID, which resulted in a learning loss. 

This program supports learners’ college transitions with weekly sessions focused on college and career readiness. Students will attend in-person sessions on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday as well as work on online, asynchronous content Wednesday, and Friday. Students can choose to enroll in either a morning or evening session.

English

The English sessions include a review of essential reading and writing skills to prepare students for their first college English course.

math

The math sessions are focused on skills such as test taking strategies, how to study math, and essential math and problem-solving skills that will help you be successful in math.

College Success Skills

Students will also participate in sessions to support their college and career success. This includes learning about
college admissions, financial aid, college resources, and career exploration.

CLASSES BEGIN MONDAY, JULY 17TH - READ IMPORTANT INFORMATION BELOW
  • ORIENTATION: If you were unable to attend, click on Orientation to schedule a session. THIS IS MANDATORY.
  • Parking is available on the 2nd floor of the Gannon ramp.  You must enter the A & S building through the main doors facing the quad (look for the clock tower) – someone will be at the door to let you in.
  • Classes begin Monday July 17th, all classes are held in the Arts & Science building.
  • Weekly Schedule (Your cohort assignment can be confirmed at the following check in locations):
    • Monday’s:  Check in at A & S room 1304.
    • Tuesday and Thursday: Check in at A & S room 3130
      • Morning session:
        8:30 – 9:00 (mealtime)
        9:10 - 12:00 (session)
      • Evening session:
        5:00 pm– 5:30 pm (mealtime)
        5:40 pm – 8:30 pm (session)
    • StarCards will be issued on Monday, July 17th , if you still have not applied for your StarCard you must apply today to ensure you will have access to the campus beyond Monday. You must have a photo ID to pick up your StarCard.
    • Please bring your laptops daily as you will use them at some point in every session

Resources

We recognize students may need additional resources to be successful in this program. Students will have access to the following resources when they participate in the program:

  • LCC laptop and free Wi-Fi while on campus
  • Transportation assistance
  • Light meals and snacks
  • $500 stipend upon successful completion of the program

*To receive the stipend for successful completion of the program, a student must attend all of the three-week program.

Eligible Students

  • Students who graduated from high school from 2020-2023
  • Michigan Reconnect students who have not started at LCC or completed college-level math or English can participate.
  • Individuals who recently completed high school equivalency and GED programs are also encouraged to enroll.

Student Outcomes

Upon completion of the College Connect program, students will:

  • Be eligible to enroll in college-level English and Mathematics with or without co-support courses
  • Experienced a college environment
  • Broaden knowledge of academic skills, college resources, and career readiness

Registration

To participate in the free College Connect Program, the following steps must be completed:

  1. Complete and submit the College Connect Registration form below
  2. Complete and submit the Admission Application to LCC
    NOTE: Students with disabilities who may need accommodations in this workshop should contact the Center for Student Access (CSA). If you had an IEP or 504 plan in high school, CSA can take a copy to review to set up accommodations. You can access the Center for Student Access website, or call (517) 483-5323. Contacting CSA early helps ensure that accommodations are put in place as soon as possible.
