Music Faculty

Adam Graham is a lifelong Michigan resident, and was appointed Instructor of Low Brass at Lansing Community College in 2023. Dr. Graham is the bass trombonist of the Holland Symphony Orchestra and has also performed with the Lansing, Traverse, Midland, Battle Creek, and West Michigan symphonies. An active freelance musician across the state, Dr. Graham performs in a wide range of styles, including big band, jazz, church, and chamber music; he is also the bass trombonist with the Holland Concert Jazz Orchestra and GROẞE SEEN BIERBAND. With the MSU Jazz Trombones, Dr. Graham won the International Trombone Association’s Kai Winding Jazz Ensemble Competition in 2014. He was invited to perform as a soloist and as a member of the William Cramer Choir at the 2025 International Trombone Festival. Dr. Graham earned the Doctor of Musical Arts and Master of Music degrees in trombone performance from Michigan State University, where he studied with Ava Ordman and Curtis Olson. A major focus of his research highlights contributions to the bass trombone repertoire by Michigan composers. He earned his Bachelor of Music in trombone performance from Grand Valley State University, studying with Dr. Mark Williams. Dr. Graham has also served as Visiting Professor at GVSU, teaching applied trombone, and as Instructor of Low Brass at Hope College. Dr. Graham also serves on faculty at Grand Valley State University, the Michigan State University Community Music School, and Grand Rapids Community College, where he teaches academic courses and applied lessons on trombone, euphonium, and tuba.
