We're Better Than THAT
Embracing diversity is a continuing process, one that requires honesty, cooperation and meaningful conversations. At Lansing Community College, we understand our journey toward inclusion and equity begins with an examination of how we relate to one another, and a pledge to engage the work necessary for meaningful progress.
To facilitate conversations and initiatives that will combat racism and hate speech in our college community, the Office of Diversity and Inclusion has partnered with the Office of Police and Public Safety to create We're Better than THAT, a comprehensive campaign to combat institutional bias and racism. We're Better than THAT will provide LCC's law enforcement professionals, students, faculty and staff with approaches to difficult conversations on prescient topics, and strategies to stop hate speech and racism in our community. With We're Better than THAT, LCC announces racism and hate speech have no place here, and that LCC is a community whose members are equally valued and respected.
We're Better Than THAT Pledge:
I pledge to stand up to all forms of hate, racism, bigotry and bullying. I will speak against all intolerance based on race, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, religion, ability or any other factor. I will work together with my LCC campus partners to create safer, more inclusive communities for us all.
