The VET NET Ally program was developed at California State University at Long Beach as a faculty and staff awareness program designed to educate members of the college community, foster a supportive campus atmosphere and establish a network of visible allies for veterans. It was designed to resemble LGBTQ Safe Zone Awareness programs after seeing how those programs have helped college staff better understand the LGBTQ community.

The presentation will cover topics associated with the military and military service, the impact on service members while they serve, and what effects their service has on them after they are discharged from the service and enter the civilian world. Once participants complete the session, they will receive a VET NET Ally decal that they can post within their workspace so veteran students will know they are dealing with someone who is a veteran ally and understands what the veteran has gone through during their service.
