Boots 2 Books (B2B) is a podcast dedicated to exploring the experiences of veteran and military-connected students. Hosted by Dustin Abrego and Rebecca Allen, B2B delves into the diverse paths and careers of those who have served their country and how they have got to where they are today. Covering topics such as transitioning to civilian life, physical and mental health, and the impact of veterans in our communities, B2B offers valuable insights for both veterans and civilians alike into the world's most diverse workforce.
The Hosts
Dustin Abrego
Dustin Abrego is an Academic Advisor here at LCC. He is a student affairs professional, speaker, leadership consultant, and personal coach. He earned his B.A.A. in Radio Broadcasting but decided that helping students was more of his calling. Dustin earned his M.S. in Educational Leadership and has been empowering students ever since. He is thrilled to be back on the air and telling the stories of the community once again.
Rebecca Allen
Rebecca Allen serves as the VA Coordinator at Lansing Community College and is a proud veteran of the Michigan Army National Guard — as well as the spouse of a veteran. She holds a degree in Psychology from Central Michigan University and has dedicated her career to helping service members, veterans, and their families succeed beyond their time in uniform. Rebecca has continued to serve in civilian roles with the Michigan Veterans Affairs Agency, Michigan National Guard, and VFW National Home. Her work focuses on connection, resilience, and helping veterans and their families build fulfilling lives beyond the military.
