LCC Connect will launch in January 2022 with new, on-demand content covering a multitude of topics, issues and events at LCC and around the world. Prior to launching LCC Connect, the college was home to WLNZ, an FM station broadcasting on 89.7 and known as LCC Radio. LCC Radio was a major partner of and contributor to the Lansing community with annual events such as the Cardboard Classic and Radio Play at the holidays, partnerships with the Lansing Blues and Jazz festivals as well as parades and music festivals all over mid-Michigan. Beloved for its dedication to providing a voice for the community, LCC Radio transitioned to Michigan Radio in November 2021 and will continue to provide community-led content into the future.
Michigan Radio is the public radio station licensed to the Regents of the University of Michigan. The station airs news and information content 24 hours per day, seven days per week via five FM signals: WUOM 91.7 FM in Southeast Michigan, WFUM 91.1 FM in Flint, WRSX 91.3 FM in Port Huron, WLNZ 89.7 FM in Lansing and WVGR 104.1 FM in West Michigan. Michigan Radio's reach is further extended via its news website, online streaming, mobile phone apps, and social media profiles.
In addition to carrying daily news programming from national and international public radio news outlets, such as National Public Radio (NPR), American Public Media (APM), and the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Michigan Radio produces and distributes its own local journalism content with an awarding-winning team of journalists based at news bureaus in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Flint, and Grand Rapids.
