Apply for Certificate of Completion & Graduation Ceremony
- Complete LCC's form titled Application for Certificate of Completion by March 15 for May graduations, and by November 15 for December graduations.
- You must complete Step #1 to officially earn a Certificate of Completion in Massage Therapy from Lansing Community College. We highly encourage completing this step at the time of graduation. Past curriculum eventually becomes outdated and cannot be used to earn certification in the future.
- If you are graduating with a cohort that you did not originally start with, you are responsible for selecting the correct catalog year on your application. An incorrect catalog year will cause the application to be denied. The steps to locate your catalog year are listed on the application.
- If you wish to walk in the college's annual graduation ceremony, follow the steps that will be sent to your student email address. For specific graduation requirements, refer to: Graduation Requirements, Certificates, and Degrees.

sTEP 5: REQUEST OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS
IMPORTANT: Official transcripts must be sent directly from the Registrar’s Office to the state. Transcripts become invalid if you, Massage Program staff, or anyone else handles them.
Before sending transcripts to LARA/BPL, verify that your transcript has been updated to show your Certificate of Completion in Massage Therapy and program completion date.
Go to LCC’s Requesting Official Transcripts webpage and click “Order Official Transcript” button. Each transcript costs $5.40 to send to a recipient.
You will be redirected to the National Student Clearinghouse site. Fill in your personal information, then add and select the following for the recipient.
Who are you sending your transcript to? Employer or Other
Business or Individual’s Name: Bureau of Professional Licensing
How do you want your transcript sent? Electronic
Send To Email Address: BPLDATA@michigan.gov
If you have any problems submitting your transcript request, email transcripts@studentclearinghouse.org for further assistance.
Step 6: LARA Supervised Curriculum Forms
The LARA Certification of Massage Therapy Supervised Curriculum Form must be completed by your school administrator and sent directly to LARA before you can complete the license application process. LCC will submit this form automatically once you successfully complete the program. Please contact the Massage program lead support, Emily McEwan, at mcewane@star.lcc.edu if LARA has not received your form after completing the program.
Step 7: Background Check
After LARA receives your application, they will send instructions and an ID number. Cost is approximately $65. If you previously completed a background check for another Michigan health license, this step may be waived. If you have had a background check for any other reason, you must still complete this separately for the state.
Important Notes
- You may complete your state license application with State of MI (LARA) before they receive your MBLEx score. They will simply create a file for you and add the required documents to it as they arrive.
- Once you have completed all of the above steps, you can track the status of your license application by visiting: www.michigan.gov/lara
- Once all your required documents are submitted, LARA says that you will receive your license in roughly 6 weeks
