Dr. Dale Dan

LANSING, Mich. – LCC has named Dr. Dale Dan as the college’s Chief Diversity Officer following a national search. She brings a wealth of expertise in diversity, equity and inclusion efforts in higher education.

Most recently, Dan served as the Chief Diversity Officer for Empire State University, part of the State University of New York system. Before that, she was Dean of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and a professor of Education and Business for Bethel University in Minnesota. Her projects included DEI strategic planning, rebuilding recruitment and hiring systems to ensure fairness, and developing extensive diversity, equity and inclusion trainings for students, employees and leadership.

Dan’s higher education career began in the classroom in the mid-2000s, when she worked as an adjunct and full-time professor of leadership and business at Palm Beach Atlantic University. She focused on growing online learning to better serve marginalized students who needed the flexibility of online classes and succeeded in expanding the university’s online campus from four students to 450, while maintaining a 98% retention rate.

She went on to teach and serve in roles related to online education and diversity and equity at Bethel University in Indiana, Bakke Graduate University, Carlos Albizu University, Westcliff University and Serenity Projects, Inc.

“I am very excited to welcome Dr. Dan to LCC to continue the work of championing DEI at the college,” LCC President Steve Robinson said. “Despite our successes to date there is still work ahead of us. Dr. Dan is a talented leader who brings a 20-year career in equity work, online education and teaching. LCC will benefit from her insights and expertise and her commitment to continuing the transformative work LCC is known for.”

Dale holds a doctorate in Education and Organizational Leadership and a master’s of Business Administration from Nova Southeastern University in Florida. She also earned post-graduate certificates from Harvard University. Her bachelor’s degree is from The Ohio State University, and she is a certified U.S. Supreme Court mediator and corporate mediator.

Dr. Dan will begin in her role on Jan. 8, 2024.
