The Marketing Department connects the college with students and the community. From developing strategic multichannel marketing plans to governing the college’s brand, the department serves as the college’s hub for communications, advertising, graphic design, web, radio, and branding. The Web Development Team and LCC Connect staff are also part of the department. The department exists to develop effective communication strategies and tactics for external and internal audiences that adhere to LCC’s brand standards, are accessible, consistent, and meet the latest industry standards and the college’s compliance requirements. All public-facing materials—print and digital—should be created through Marketing. Materials distributed to the public that do not meet compliance standards could jeopardize the college’s accreditation.
Let's get creative.
There are three marketing coordinators, each serving a different area of the college. When you submit a request via the 5Star Service Center, your coordinator will review the ticket and be your point of contact for all college services related to your request. For example, if your request requires edits to the website, the coordinator will work with the Web team to make updates.
| Coordinator | Service areas |
|---|---|
| Tonya Causely-Ingram | Health and Human Services Division, Business Operations Division, Board of Trustees, the President’s Office, Office of Empowerment, Transfer Center, LCC Connect, and Center for Teaching Excellence |
| Cassie Little | Student Affairs Division, Academic Affairs Division, Provost’s Office, LCC Library, and Performing Arts |
| Mackenzie Draper | Arts and Sciences Division, Technical Careers Division, CEWD Division, Extension Centers, and West Campus Student Services |
Submit an Advertising/Promotional Materials request via the 5Star Service Center
Your project will be in the department’s queue once a request is submitted, and your area’s marketing coordinator will review your request. Depending on its complexity, your coordinator may ask for more details or suggest a meeting to discuss it.
>> Pro-tip: Connect with your area’s marketing coordinator before submitting a ticket! Share your ideas and details about what you’re trying to accomplish, and they will discuss possibilities for your project and the best way to achieve your goal(s).
Once your coordinator has reviewed your project and determined a plan, your coordinator will execute the plan. This includes but is not limited to writing or editing content (in AP style), assigning materials to the graphic design team, scheduling media (ad buys/list buys, social media, internal/ external digital signage, emails, etc.), and making website updates.
To ensure timely, accurate communication about projects, please use the 5Star Service Center ticket comments and attachments to communicate about projects and share documents associated with your request. You will also receive materials and communications from the Marketing Department in this manner. Typically, completing a project takes two to three weeks; please plan accordingly. This timeframe may vary based on client responsiveness, the number of edits, the scope of the project, and the department’s workload at the time of the request. “Quick edits” can often take longer when multiple “quick edits” are in the queue.
Please note: There is no cost for the department’s services, and you do not need to enter FOAPAL information in the 5Star request form. If print materials are needed and your department is responsible for the print costs, the Marketing Department cannot submit a Print Services request on your behalf. Coordinators are not permitted to use another department’s FOAPAL, which is required for print requests.

Policies regarding imagery, design and project timelines
While marketing aims to please by creating materials our clients are happy with, the Marketing Department does reserve the right to make design and photography decisions for materials. Our department consists of professionals in our specializations, such as design. Decisions surrounding marketing, design, advertising, and communications topics are based upon experience, expertise, industry trends, web analytics, and data and follow the college’s brand and compliance standards. We respectfully ask for your cooperation and support regarding these matters.
Client revisions
While every effort will be made to meet client expectations, Marketing reserves the right to design the college’s printed and digital materials in compliance with our official Brand Standards. This includes (but is not limited to) type font size/selection, word count, photo selection and cropping, logo use (size, placement) and third-party content. These rules follow industry-wide best practices and help ensure quality and consistency.
Using content from the web
The use of images (photos, art, typography, etc.) obtained from the Web is strictly prohibited unless prior written permission is secured from the content's owner/creator. Today’s automated search functionality is extremely thorough from a copyright infringement standpoint and can result in costly fines to the college.
AI-generated content creation
The use of AI-generated visual or audio content in any LCC marketing or promotional assets is discouraged and will not be utilized or sanctioned by Marketing (this does not include text generation/correction software). Some of the factors guiding this rule:
- Lack of authenticity: Artificially generated content can negatively affect the LCC brand, trustworthiness, and credibility
- Prohibited: The use of inaccurate or misleading marketing content is strictly prohibited under our HLC accreditation policy
- Legality: Vague intellectual property ownership issues and potential copyright infringement scenarios
Website requests
The Web Development Team manages the lcc.edu website and the administration and function of all college web pages on public servers.
For website content changes or new requests, please contact your area’s marketing coordinator to ensure your requested content changes are in AP style and free of spelling and grammatical errors. If you submit a request without taking this step, the web team will refer you to a coordinator and place your request on hold.
For minor website updates, complete and submit the LCC Website Changes and Creations form in the 5Star Service Center.
Please note: All requests will be assessed for compliance with HLC, FERPA, WCAG 2.1 accessibility, copyright, LCC brand and web governance standards. The LCC Web Development Team reserves the right to prioritize user experience (content and design best practices) over individual preferences.
