The LCC Regional Fire Training Center's Fire Science Academy prepares recruits in basic fire training and physical fitness. Academy graduates earn a Certificate of Completion (CC), which can be applied toward either of the Fire Science Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees.
Successful completion of the Fire Science Academy also certifies graduates in the Michigan Fire Fighter Training Council for Fire Fighter I and II, Hazardous Materials Operations, Vehicle Extrication, Advanced Vehicle Stabilization, NIMS 100 and 200, and Wildland Fire Fighter II through the National Wildfire Coordinating Group.
The Fire Science Academy admissions process is detailed below. Please note that each step has additional tasks that must be completed for both the general LCC and Fire Science Academy application processes. In addition, it is recommended to apply for financial aid (FAFSA), scholarships and grants to help fund your education.
