2021-2022 Degree and Certificate Program Pathways

If you first enrolled in courses in the academic year 2021-2022 (as indicated on your web transcript), you may select degree and certificate programs below, or any degree or certificate program available after the 2021-2022 academic year. Prior to beginning any curriculum, students should contact an advisor to create a My Academic Pathway (MAP) in Degree Works.  You can contact an advisor in the Academic Advising Department, Gannon Building - StarZone, by phone 517-483-1200 option 4, or by email (eadvising@lcc.edu).

Note: Students are expected to ensure their program of study and the catalog year is always accurate in Banner Self Service. If the program of study you are following has changed, or if the catalog year is no longer valid because the effective dates have passed, your record must be updated by submitting a Program and Catalog Year Request form via the Registrar Forms webpage.

LCC makes every effort to limit revisions to the pathways during their effective timeframe.  However, the College reserves the right to update certificate and degree title changes, and make course changes as needed, without prior notice.

Associate of Arts/Associate of Science Degrees

The Associate of Arts (AA) and the Associate of Science (AS) degrees are primarily transfer degrees designed for students who intend to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a baccalaureate degree. Certain other degree types, as spelled out on the individual program pathways, may be intended for transfer as well. Students completing these degrees will also satisfy the Michigan Transfer Agreement between the majority of two-year and four-year institutions in Michigan.

General education and subject area requirements vary from one college or university to another. Students should contact the school to which they may transfer for specific transfer institution requirements (See Transfer Information for a list of institutions for which transfer guides are available.)

Applied Degrees and Certificates

Applied awards, including, for example, the Associate of Applied Arts (AAA) degree, Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree, Associate of Business (AB) degree, and certificates, are designed primarily for students who seek education and the acquisition of skills needed to enter the job market or to advance their current careers. Not all courses in these programs transfer to all colleges. Students planning to transfer should see an academic advisor before enrolling in any course.

The following CANNOT be used for any certificate or degree requirements:

a) courses numbered below 100
b) courses in Mathematics or Statistics that are not listed on the Transfer Degrees (MTA) tab or Applied Degrees tab of LCC General Education.
c) courses in English or Writing numbered below 118
d) courses in English as a Second Language
e) courses in Reading
f) courses in non-technical Vocabulary
g) courses in Academic Experience numbered other than 100 or 101
h) courses in Student Development numbered other than 101
