LCC to hold Constitution Day event

The Honorable Albert M. Rosenblatt, author of “The Eight: The Lemmon Slave Case and the Fight for Freedom,” will speak at the event. The case focused on whether a judge should base their ruling on morality or the Constitution when the Constitution protects a violation of human rights.
Descendants of The Eight, including many LCC alumni who still live in the Greater Lansing area, will attend.
Rosenblatt teaches at New York University School of Law and is a retired judge from the State of New York. His book recounts the story of Lemmon v. New York, also known as the Lemmon Slave Case, tried in 1852, which raised important questions about the freedom status of slaves in free states.
The event is free and open to the public. To learn more and to register, please visit the website.
