Dr. Jennifer Wimbish

LANSING, Mich.  LCC’s former provost, Dr. Jennifer Wimbish will discuss her book “Leadership Wisdom for ALL Generations” from 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday Oct. 12 in the Technology and Learning Center (TLC) located at 400 N. Capitol Ave. in Room 1202.

Wimbush recently released a second edition of the book which takes the reader on a journey connected to a faith based worldview from her childhood in the segregated South to presidency at a diverse community college and into retirement. Lessons presented are gleaned from Wimbish, along with great leaders who have transformed organizations and communities. The second edition, revised within such current leadership circumstances as the COVID-19 pandemic and the prevalence of mass murders, presents a new framework for leadership direction. Parents, teens and leaders in different roles across all generations may explore models from those practicing in the field that force them to evaluate their leadership belief systems and strategies.

Dr. Wimbish is President Emeritus of Cedar Valley College, part of the Dallas Colleges System, and was the first African American president of the college. Wimbish is president of BW Success Strategies, Incorporated, a consulting firm focused on leadership, strategic thinking and planning, success coaching, equity as a standard in organizations, and problem solving connected to solutions. Her leadership journey and experiences have brought her to present at leadership conferences across the nation and to teach on numerous leadership topics. She has served as provost and chief academic officer at LCC; dean of students and faculty counselor at Brookhaven College in the Dallas, Texas, area; and teacher and counselor in the Corpus Christi (Texas) Independent School District. Wimbish holds a Ph.D. in Higher, Adult and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University.

Light refreshments will be served and signed copies will be available for purchase.
