Peter MacFadden Scholarship

Support Students at LCC

The Peter MacFadden Scholarship was established to honor the memory of our brother, Peter B. MacFadden, and to celebrate his life, by providing assistance to students who not only have financial need, but who have had to overcome some kind of obstacle or obstacles in order to pursue their education.

Such obstacles might include such things as an unusual degree of challenges in family life during childhood or adolescence; earning a G.E.D.; lack of a residence; being the first person in the family to pursue higher education; and various other substantial challenges that a student might have encountered. Students in LCC's TRIO program or in MSU's King-Chavez-Parks "GEAR UP" program were especially important to Dr. MacFadden.

This scholarship is open to both male and female students of all races, in any program; some degree of preference should be given to students who have earned a G.E.D, but students who qualify otherwise should not be excluded from consideration. Where other factors are equal, preference can also be given to students pursuing a degree in the following fields or programs: Building Construction; Communication; Education; Paralegal; World Language; and TRIO (now the ACCESS program).
