Nursing Program Announcement: Second Degree Track
The Lansing Community College Nursing Program is providing an important update regarding the Second-Degree Nursing Track.
The Nursing Program will not be starting a Spring 2028 Second Degree cohort. Beginning with the next cohort, the Second-Degree Track will transition to a Fall start, with the next cohort beginning Fall 2028.
The Fall 2028 Second Degree cohort will be fully face-to-face and will follow the nursing semester sequence below:
Fall 2028 → Spring 2029 → Summer 2029 → Fall 2029
All nursing courses will be delivered face-to-face on campus.
Application Deadline
The next application deadline for the Second-Degree Track will be: March 1, 2028
Students interested in applying for the Fall 2028 Second Degree cohort should plan accordingly and monitor the Nursing Program website for application information, admission requirements, and updates as the application period approaches.

Spring 2027 Second Degree Nursing Track Update
Due to low application numbers, the 2nd Degree Nursing Track for Spring 2027 has been suspended.

Discontinuation of the Advanced Standing Track
Due to consistently low enrollment in the Advanced Standing Track, Lansing Community College has made the decision to discontinue this pathway effective with the Spring 2027 semester.
The Career Ladder Nursing Program remains committed to providing high-quality nursing education and will continue to offer both the Traditional Track and the Second Degree Track to meet the needs of prospective students. These pathways will continue to provide students with strong academic preparation and clinical experiences that support success in the nursing profession.
This change allows the program to focus its resources on the pathways that best serve the greatest number of students while continuing to uphold the excellence and quality of Lansing Community College's Nursing Program.

Notice of PN Accreditation and NCLEX-PN Eligibility
Exciting news! We are thrilled to announce that the Practical Nurse (PN) portion of the Associate Degree Nursing Program at Lansing Community College has officially received initial accreditation from ACEN, along with approval from the Michigan State Board of Nursing!
What does this mean for you? Students who have successfully completed the second semester (NURS 221 and NURS 222) of the Nursing Program at Lansing Community College are now eligible to apply to take the NCLEX-PN examination.
