2024-2025 Degree and Certificate Pathways

A pathway is a guide to help you meet all of the requirements for your major, including completing the required courses in the most efficient order. If your first semester of enrollment as shown on your LCC web transcript is in the academic year 2024-2025, select the pathway for your major below, or for any year after the 2024-2025 academic year. Prior to beginning any pathway, students should contact an advisor to create a My Academic Pathway (MAP) in Degree Works.  You can contact an advisor in the Academic Advising Department, Gannon Building - StarZone, by phone 517-483-1200 option 4, or by email (eadvising@lcc.edu).

Note: Students are expected to ensure both their major and the catalog year are always accurate in Banner Self Service. If the major you are following has changed, or if the catalog year is no longer valid because the effective dates have passed, your record must be updated by submitting a Major and Catalog Year Update Request form via the Registrar Forms webpage.

LCC makes every effort to limit revisions to the pathways during their effective timeframe.  However, the College reserves the right to update certificate and degree titles, and make course changes as needed, without prior notice. The College also reserves the right to discontinue majors when warranted.

Associate of Arts/Associate of Science Degrees

The Associate of Arts (AA) and the Associate of Science (AS) degrees are primarily designed for students who intend to transfer to a four-year college or university to pursue a baccalaureate degree. Certain other majors, as spelled out on the individual pathways, may be intended for transfer as well. Students completing these degrees will also satisfy the Michigan Transfer Agreement between the majority of two-year and four-year institutions in Michigan.

General education and subject area requirements vary from one college or university to another. Students should contact the school to which they may transfer for specific transfer institution requirements (See Transfer Information for a list of institutions for which transfer guides are available.)

Applied Degrees and Certificates

Applied awards, including, for example, the Associate of Applied Arts (AAA) degree, Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree, Associate of Business (AB) degree, and certificates, are designed primarily for students who seek education and the acquisition of skills needed to enter the job market or to advance their current careers. Not all courses in these majors transfer to all colleges. Students planning to transfer should see an academic advisor before enrolling in any course.

Pathways for the 2024-2025 majors are listed alphabetically below. To view the requirements for each major, click on the title of the degree.

For pathways that include ACAD 100, First-Year Experience, the course may be waived when students meet one of the following College-approved waiver criteria:
1. Completion of 12 college-level credits with minimum grades of 2.0 shown on the LCC transcript (including transfer, if applicable), or 
2. Employment in the field of, or a field related to, the degree being sought, or
3. For Health Careers students, successful completion of CHSE 100.

Students wishing to waive ACAD 100 should contact their advisor.

The following CANNOT be used for any major requirements:

a) courses numbered below 100;
b) courses in Mathematics or Statistics that are not listed on the Transfer Degrees (MTA) tab or Applied Degrees tab of LCC General Education;
c) courses in English or Writing numbered below 118;
d) courses in English as a Second Language;
e) courses in Reading;
f) courses in non-technical Vocabulary;
g) courses in Academic Experience numbered other than 100 or 101;
h) courses in Student Development numbered other than 101.
