LCC working on three projects to create a Neurodivergent-Friendly Campus
More than 60 LCC students and employees partnered to develop ideas that foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment for all, including those who are neurodivergent.
From their recommendations, the college is focused on:
- Sensory-Friendly Environments, starting with establishing one sensory room on each LCC campus. These spaces offer sound management, dimmable lights and sensory equipment, with the goal of reducing overstimulation and increasing comfort.
- Social Integration, Inclusion and Community Building, starting with creating peer support groups that foster belonging and reduce stigma.
- Building Professional Development Pathways, starting with adding neurodiversity training into onboarding and professional development for LCC’s faculty and staff.
