LCC continues transformation as Neurodivergent-Friendly Campus
LCC is committed to creating an inclusive, supportive learning environment for all students, including those who are neurodivergent.
To that end, we engaged some of the best researchers in the field – from Landmark College’s Institute for Research and Training – to review our policies, talk to our students and employees, and visit our spaces, and then provide us with their suggestions for improvement.
We are excited to announce we have received the report! In reviewing Landmark’s suggestions for improvement, the college has settled on three categories of work on which to focus over the next two years:
- Building Professional Development Pathways, including incorporating neurodivergency training in onboarding for new faculty and staff
- Social Integration, Inclusion and Community Building, including fostering a sense of belonging, reducing stigma, building trust and strengthening campus relationships
- Sensory-Friendly Environments, including designing common spaces and sensory breakrooms
We are already beginning this work, and we’re excited to build a campus that is even more welcoming to all.
