Historians at the Movies continues with ‘Godzilla’
Each month, the LCC History Program presents some of our favorite movies to explore significant eras and events. In October, we will watch the original “Godzilla,” the first of more than 30 films over 70 years.
Directed by Ishirō Hondo, the 1954 Godzilla is considered a cinematic masterpiece. For those unfamiliar, Godzilla is a fire-breathing monster who terrorizes Japan after being awakened from a centuries-old sleep by an atomic bomb.
Watch the movie on Webex with History’s Wade Merrill and English’s Tim Deines, then share lively discussions about the topics and themes behind the plot. The screening will begin at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 21.
On Nov. 18, we will be back to watch 2023’s “Round and Round” with co-host Brad Hicks.
If you’re on campus, grab an LCC-HATM Snack Pack to enjoy while you watch the movie – you can pick it up in the Social Science and Humanities Office, in Arts & Sciences, room 2203.
