Explore joy as resistance at this year’s Take a Stand! Sit In!
Joy is a powerful force for resistance. Joy builds energy, community and resilience, and it’s an essential expression of being human. Explore joy at this year’s Take a Stand! Sit In! series with storytelling, films, laughter and creativity.
The event kicks off 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, with a free evening of films, a filmmaker panel and a community sing. In partnership with the Capital City Film Festival, this event will take place at Central United Methodist Church, located at 215 N. Capitol Ave. in Lansing.
The event continues on Thursday, April 16, in the Gannon Building.
- Creating Joy: Crocheting, beading, macrame, journaling, knitting, games and a community-created mural. (10 a.m.-noon in the Gannon Building Highway and noon-4:30 p.m. in Gannon Building 2214)
- Step It Up: Discover how good a little movement feels, or simply relax and observe. (12:10-1 p.m. in Gannon Building 3119, Dance Studio)
- Welcoming Discussion (1:10-1:30 p.m. in Gannon Building 2214)
- Comedy and Improv: Come and play, or sit back and watch – either way, enjoy the joy! (3:10-4:30 p.m. Black Box Theatre, Gannon Building 1422)
