Evacuation drills scheduled for September and October

Evacuation drills are coming to a building near you!

LCC is holding mandatory drills in each building between Sept. 9 and Oct. 7. The exact times and dates will not be announced in advance. Everyone who is in a particular building at the time of the exercise is required to participate, even if you already participated in another building.

All drills will begin with a PA announcement. When you hear the PA, please proceed out of your building through the nearest exit and wait outside, 50-100 feet from the doors. Do not clog building entrances and exits.

A friendly reminder: The drill cannot end until people are out of the buildings. The quicker everyone exits, the quicker the drill will be done.

Once the drill is complete, you will hear an “all clear” message from LCC Police or one of our Building Emergency Response Team (BERT) members. Do not go back in the building until you have received the “all clear” message.

These annual exercises are an important aspect of emergency preparedness and are a requirement under the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act and Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration. Evacuation is one of the five key emergency responses LCC asks all students to know how to handle, and this is a good opportunity for us to practice our response as a community. Thank you!
