BIT renaming to Care Team

Meet LCC’s Care Team! The Behavior Intervention Team (BIT) has taken this new name to better reflect the goals and values of the team. Members of Care follow up on student behavioral concerns, and the team’s objective is to care for all students by linking them to appropriate on or off campus services.

Care reports can be filed by students or employees when they see a student exhibiting concerning behavior. This could be:

  • Thoughts of self-harm or harming others
  • Displaying signs of depression and unreasonable behavior
  • Otherwise demonstrating severe distress.

The Care Team reviews each report and develops a plan to support the student.

Importantly, a Care report is not a report of a Student Code of Conduct violation, and therefore it does not become part of a student’s academic record. Its purpose is to provide assistance before behaviors escalate into irreversible choices.
