April is National Community College Month
This year’s theme is “The Smartest First Step, the Strongest Next Step”

Lansing, Mich., April 1, 2026 — This April, Lansing Community College joins colleges across the country in celebrating Community College Month (#CCMonth), highlighting the essential role that community and technical colleges have in strengthening America’s workforce and increasing economic opportunities. #CCMonth is an annual grassroots campaign organized by the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) to raise awareness about the value and importance of community colleges.
"Community colleges are the smartest first step and the strongest next step for millions of learners," said Dean of Technical Careers, Shon'ta Dwyer. "Whether a student is preparing to transfer, seeking a career-ready credential, or building new skills through short-term training, LCC offers the right pathway."
The Technical Careers Division at LCC offers innovative pathways to quality postsecondary education and apprenticeship training in partnership with industry and the communities we serve. The division is committed to providing education that enables our graduates to find employment or pursue further education through pathways that promote economic mobility and financial stability.
