LANSING, Mich. – Lansing Community College will join the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation tribute to firefighters who died in the line of duty.

On May 3 and 4, for the eighth consecutive year, the college will illuminate the Granger Clock Tower on the Downtown Campus and the dome at West Campus in red, to honor some of America’s bravest heroes.

Since 1992, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation has sponsored this official national memorial tribute to firefighters who died in the line of duty during the previous year. Starting in 2023, the traditional October date for recognition was moved to May to avoid weather uncertainties.

“We are honored to uphold our longstanding tradition of commemorating fallen firefighters,” said Steve Robinson, LCC President. “We hold the utmost respect for the strength and resilience demonstrated by their families as they pay tribute to their loved ones.”

President Trump has ordered all flags to half-staff on May 4, 2025, to honor the 70 firefighters who died in 2024.
