Credit Hour

For a semester of approximately 15 weeks, every credit hour of a course includes not only a minimum of 50 to 60 minutes of classroom or direct faculty instruction each week but also a minimum of 2 hours of out-of-class student work each week, per the Federal definition at 34 CFR 600.2. Courses in shorter parts of term include more instructional time per week and more out-of-class work to meet this minimum.
