Transforming Learning Through Teaching (TLTT)

This transformative course encourages participants to reflect on current teaching practices and consider new ones as they collaborate and learn alongside others from various disciplines across the college. Topics include Universal Design for Learning (UDL), creating inclusive learning environments, and exploring evidence-based teaching strategies to support student learning. Assignments will encourage exploration of new resources, reflection, and consideration of new approaches to guide student learning.

This course intends to explore, experience, and reflect upon current teaching and learning practices. The facilitators use a collaborative approach, and every effort is made to model the various teaching and learning strategies and concepts presented in the course. While the strategies modeled are research-based, the focus of this course is the application of the techniques to the learning environment. This course counts as 36 hours of professional development. While this course is online, it is not self-paced. (NOTE: Feel free to adapt materials in this course for your courses).

The successful completion of TLTT is required for faculty wishing to apply for a change in status. To successfully complete the course (i.e., pass) the course, please understand that:

  • Participants will meet weekly during a two-hour, synchronous Webex Online Real-Time (ORT) class session. As per CTE guidelines, participants will participate with their cameras on.
  • Participants will need to spend approximately 4-5 hours per week, including the ORT sessions, during any semester, completing classwork.
  • Participants must meet specific deadlines, as outlined in the Course Calendar.
  • Participants are expected to regularly interact with others in a meaningful way.
