On Oct. 7 LCC hosted the “Walk a Mile in Their Shoes” event at LCC’s West Campus. The walk was created in order to honor those who lost their lives to breast cancer or those currently fighting breast cancer. To show further support, students wore pink.
The event helps to provide awareness by giving insight to statistics and additional information regarding breast cancer and providing additional resources to the Susan G. Coleman Foundation.
The Susan G. Coleman Foundation according to their website, is a foundation that has helped fuel research, unlocked the biology of breast cancer and discovered insights that propel the public towards more effective risk reduction strategies, earlier detection methods and innovative treatments. The foundation has helped to reduce breast cancer mortality rate by 44% since 1989.
There were two walks that students could attend which were the morning and afternoon walk. The morning walk took place from 10-11 a.m. and the afternoon took place from 4-5 p.m.
This event was available for LCC students and employees to attend and was coordinated by The Office of Empowerment on West Campus.
