The Stars volleyball team suffered a tough loss against Kellogg Community College Tuesday, Sept. 12 in Battle Creek, losing the match in five sets.
It came down to the last set being tied 10-10, and Kellogg pulled away, winning the set 15-11 to clinch the match.
“We had too many errors and didn’t click when we needed to,” LCC Coach Emily Quintero said.
This loss moves the Stars record to 11-2 overall.
LCC sophomore Macey Beyerlein had 20 digs against Kellogg, adding to her impressive defensive season-total of 200 digs.
Sophomore Ellie Robinson led the Stars with 13 kills. Three others followed with 11 kills each. One of them was sophomore outside hitter Alex Widner, who is the team leader in kills for the season.
“The kills I get in each game signify the work we have been putting in every day in practice,” Widner aid. “Coach Quintero and the coaching staff are amazing and very eager to help everyone grow as a player and individual. The positive environment is what assists me the most as a player.”
The Stars will try to bounce back in their next match, which is at home against Kalamazoo Valley Community College on Thursday, Sept. 14 in the Gannon Gym starting at 6:30 p.m.
“We need to continue on what we can control and improve,” Quintero said.
