Lansing Community College offers various forms of financial aid to its students, including the Financial Aid Book Vouchers. These vouchers allow students with excess aid—after paying tuition, fees and other charges—to purchase textbooks for their classes with their financial aid money.

The Book Vouchers provided by LCC are essentially an advance on one’s financial aid and can be up to $600 per semester. Financial Aid Advisor Jennifer Hatt emphasized, “Using the voucher doesn't increase the total amount of financial aid. It just gives students access to the financial aid earlier than the actual financial aid gets dispersed.”

For the 2026 spring semester at LCC, book vouchers were released on Dec. 15, 2025. The vouchers are redeemable through the Barnes and Noble College (BNC) Online Bookstore, but students have to follow a few steps in order to use their voucher.

First, students must log in at my.lcc.edu then proceed to the banner page. Under the Student tab, click on Bookstore Information and select the correct term. The link attached to the term should automatically pull up the Barnes and Noble College Online Bookstore.

It is very important that students access the bookstore through their LCC account, as that link will automatically connect the students' voucher to the store. “Without the student's permission for the information to be shared, we can't share with the BNC bookstore how much they have in the voucher,” Hatt said.

Once the student has reached the online bookstore, they will be prompted to enter their course information using the course number and CRN. The website then will pull up the required materials for the course, along with an alert notifying the student how much aid they have on their voucher.

Once the student has selected their course materials, the online bookstore will give the student the option to select the voucher to pay at checkout.

Students struggling with navigating the voucher program have a variety of helpful tools available to them. Students can email the financial aid office, meet over a call with a financial aid advisor, or stop into the StarZone to get help from one of the enrollment service specialists. Additionally, some LCC classes participate in First Day Inclusive Access, which provides the student with the textbook for the class with no need to purchase a book on their own. Check with your course instructor to see which books are needed for the class you are taking.
