The LCC Rock Band, along with the LCC Multi-Instrumental Ensemble, had its first performance since the COVID-19 shutdowns this past Sunday, May 1.
The bands played at The Avenue Cafe at 2021 E. Michigan Ave. in Lansing from 6 to 8 p.m.
Christopher Rollins, the instructor of the LCC Rock Band, said this was the first off-campus performance the band has ever done.
“We (played) two sets of a combination of covers and original music written by our students,” Rollins said. “Multi Instrumental music (in) a 20-minute set, as well as ‘Universal Receivers,’ a combination of rock band and jazz students playing a final set of R&B classics.”
Remus Webb, the instructor of LCC’s Multi-Instrumental Ensemble, was also excited for the first performance of the year.
“I (was) excited for the audience to hear the music the students spent the semester working on,” Webb said. “(Our set included) covers, arrangements and original compositions. Guests (enjoyed) a wide variety of music, from ‘70s and ‘80s funk, original compositions in pop music, jazzy tunes and, of course, rock.”
