On Feb. 9, LCC’s Gamma Mu chapter hosted the annual Gamma Iota Sigma Etiquette Dinner. The event began at 4 p.m., allowing students to network and receive professional headshots, with dinner served at 5 p.m.

The Gamma Mu chapter at LCC is part of the Gamma Iota Sigma international fraternity aimed at promoting student interest and involvement in the insurance industry. 2026 marks the third year at LCC for Gamma Iota Sigma.

Students paid a $15 attendance fee, and event organizer Mary Stucko reported that attendees came from Michigan State University, the University of Olivet, LCC, and Lansing-and Saginaw-area high schools.

The dinner featured two speakers. Shelley Davis Boyd, the chief operations officer at M3 Group, was the first speaker of the evening and shared insight into the importance of etiquette in a professional setting. Davis Boyd also touched on working with others in the workplace and shared some keys to successful networking.

Bill Gatewood, executive vice president at Burns & Wilcox, attended the event as the keynote speaker. Gatewood discussed how the increased frequency of natural disasters has changed the field of insurance and how the industry is responding.

Gamma Iota Sigma is planning to hold another etiquette dinner in the spring 2027 semester. Students interested in joining the Gamma Mu chapter at LCC can contact Stucko, who is the club’s advisor, through LCC’s Clubs and Organizations webpage.
