Welcome Week for West and Downtown Campus was last week; however, this week it’s LCC East’s turn. On the agenda for this week, it starts with the Office of Empowerment Community Love Table, which begins its appearance at East Campus on Sept. 8. However, it will be available to students throughout the whole semester at various locations across all campus. This table allows for students to get not only snacks but also support throughout the semester.

The following day at 1 p.m., there is an Envision Green Transfer session. This session talks about transferring to Michigan State University after LCC. Because LCC East is located near Michigan State University, it makes it handy for students who are also enrolled in Michigan State University to attend both LCC and Michigan State University classes.

LCC East has over 12 classrooms, a full computer lab, and two large study areas. LCC East also allows for guest students to be able to attend classes a little closer to their school. The campus hosts 30-35 LCC courses in the fall and spring semesters and 4-6 courses in the summer and offers a wide variety of Michigan Transfer Agreement courses.

Furthermore, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m., there will be a resource fair just for LCC East, including snacks, swag and student resource tables. These tables will have success coaches, advising and more.

Lastly, on Sept. 10, there will be the chance for houseplants and rock painting. This event allows students to paint plant pots or rocks, and then take it home with them. “We want students to have fun and learn about resources available at LCC,” Matt Lemon, the coordinator for LCC East, said. “Our team at LCC East prides itself on friendly, helpful, accurate and professional service for our students, faculty and the community.”

LCC East also has an evening business program that allows for students who work full time to be able to attend class. Most evening classes start after 6pm and end at 9pm. These classes also meet once or twice a week. There are two main majors that can be completed with these evening classes which are an Associate of Arts in Business Transfer Studies and Associate in Business in Business Administration. So, not only is East Campus having a welcome week, but it also might be of interest to students that are in need for night classes, due to their busy schedules.
