Program A cornerstone of Lansing Community College’s Automotive Technology Program is the National Alternative Fuels Training Center, offered in partnership with West Virginia University’s National Alternative Fuels Training Consortium, which designated LCC as a National Training Center in 1998. For a fleet manager and automotive service technician, this means you can get training through LCC’s National Alternative Fuels Training Center to service vehicles powered by alternate sources of power. Our alternative fuels instructors are experienced, dedicated professionals and with years of practical training experience they are focused on you, your learning needs and your success. Each of our instructors have completed the National Alternative Fuels Training Program (NAFTP) in all components taught at our training center. All instructors use NAFTP materials and course information as standards for the course. All instructors are ASE Natural Gas (F-1) certified and are encouraged to use the National Automotive Training Education Foundation standards. In our sessions, one-on-one, personalized instruction is emphasized along with a learning environment that encourages interaction. As the push for fuel independence and a cleaner environment gains momentum in this country, the development of cleaner-burning fuels has led to a growing need for technicians trained to service vehicles powered by alternative fuels.
