LCC Orientation Information and Registration
Q: Is Orientation mandatory
A. Students are expected to attend orientation
and should plan to attend the ENTIRE session.
Q: Is there any charge to attend orientation?
A: Orientation is free of charge at this time.
Q: When is orientation being offered?
A: We offer orientation in June, July and August
for new Fall students; in November and December
for new Spring students, and in May for new
Summer students. The specifics of the schedule
(dates and times) are available at
schedule.
Once you've signed up for a session, print your
confirmation.
Q. Should I take my assessment tests before
coming to Orientation?
A. It is best if you take your assessments prior
to attending Orientation. We will discuss test
scores during the academic advising piece of the
Orientation so you will need to have these with
you.
Q. What if I have already taken assessment tests
at another college?
A. Please arrange to have your transcripts sent
to the registrars office at Lansing Community
College PRIOR to attending Orientation. They
will evaluate your transcripts as to whether
additional testing will be necessary.
Q: Is orientation only on line, or is it offered
face-to-face?
A: Our focus at this time is the face-to-face
sessions.
Q: Can I bring guests to orientation?
A: Parents or
other adult guests of students are welcome as
long as there is space available in the room on
the day of your session. Students with children
should make arrangements for child care during
the orientation sessions.

-
understand how LCC's technology works, including registering and checking grades, and where to get help

describe what is needed to apply for financial aid and the kinds of aid available to LCC students
Students will also be given:
-
Course schedule book and catalog
-
LCC giveaways (pens, backpack, and more)
-
LCC services info (library, tutorial services, dining options)
A: There are a variety of special in-depth sessions of orientation. If you are looking for something more, please attend a regular session of orientation to get started
Q. I signed up for orientation and I need to reschedule. What do I do?
A: Simply register and come to another session. There is no need to contact Orientation to reschedule; we will accommodate whoever shows up to our sessions.
Q: None of the orientation dates work with my schedule. What should I do?A: Because of the valuable information provided during orientation, we've scheduled several sessions at varying days and times. To get the most from your experience at LCC we recommend that you consider adjusting your schedule to attend one of these sessions. However, if this isn't possible you can meet with a counselor one-on-one, meet with a financial aid advisor one-on-one, take a tour of LCC through the admissions department on your own time, etc. to recreate the orientation experience during times that are more convenient for you. We caution you, however, that this will likely take more of your time than if you simply attended one session of orientation. There are also topics we cover in orientation that you will not easily get anywhere else. Try to make attending orientation a priority ? it will save you time and trouble in the long run.
Q: Where is orientation located? How do I get to LCC? Where should I park?A: Double check the location of the session you are registered for by looking at the orientation schedule (click here). Once you've confirmed the location, use the following links to get directions to our campus and park.

We will provide all reasonable accommodations to ensure you get the most out of the orientation program.
