Career Ladder Nursing Program

Lansing Community College offers several delivery options in a Career Ladder Program in Nursing. Graduates who successfully complete the first year of the program earn a certificate and are eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination-Practical Nurse (NCLEX-PN). Those who pass the examination are entitled to practice as Licensed  Practical Nurses (LPNs). Graduates who successfully complete the second  year of the program earn an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences and are eligible to take the National Council Licensing Examination-Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN).  Those who pass the examination are entitled to practice as Registered Nurses (RNs).

Students who plan to apply to the nursing program must attend a mandatory Pre-Nursing Advising Seminar.  Dates are established by the Counseling and Advising Office (call 517/483-1904 for upcoming dates) or click here to see scheduled dates. Students MUST read the Career Ladder Nursing Program Advising Guide thoroughly before attending a seminar.

LCC offers a variety of programs that will quickly qualify you for a job in health care. These programs range in length from less than one semester to three. You can take classes while keeping your current job, or immerse yourself in your new field. When you complete your courses and start work in your new field, you have the option of continuing to take courses to improve your skills and increase your promotion potential.
