Music Program

Compose your start, your future and your career with the Music Program at Lansing Community College. Music majors choose the curriculum that best suits their own passions and professional goals;

  • Music- Associate degree
    • Transfer focus in classical performance, music education, jazz studies, theory/composition, music therapy, sacred music
  • Commercial Music - Associate degree
    • Performance focus in popular music styles (rock, jazz, blues, country, gospel, etc.) and the music industry
  • Music Management - Associate degree
    • Career focus in the business of music, band management, producing, recording, and music retail

LCC music majors benefit from small class sizes with leading faculty-artists, one-to-one private lessons in all band and orchestral instruments, voice, keyboard, guitar and percussion, access to state-of-the-art technologies in LCC's electronic music and sound recording studios, and exciting performance opportunities in a season of more than 20 concerts and recitals!

To learn more about the Music Program and becoming a music major at LCC, please attend one of our upcoming

Music Orientation sessions. There is no need to sign up beforehand; just show up and we will be glad to see you! At orientation, you will have the opportunity to meet other new music majors, meet some of the music program faculty, take the Music Theory Placement Test (if necessary), learn about degree and certificate offerings, tour the music facilities, learn about free tutoring and accompanying services, get advising for the upcoming semester, learn about practice room and studio class policies, and ask any questions you may have about the program.
