Academic Waiver Information
All LCC students are required to have placement levels on file and meet individual course pre-requisites before they can register. The waiver form below can be used to obtain placement levels in Reading, Writing, and Math OR to receive a pre-requisite override based off of previous college-level coursework.
Orientation Waiver Information
The waiver form below can also be used to waive new student orientation. LCC does not require orientation for transfer and guest students. However, we invite you to complete orientation online or in person to learn more about your options and resources for success at LCC.
Placement & Orientation Waiver/Prerequisite Override Request Form
The Waiver Team strives to save students unnecessary placement testing and repeated courses while ensuring that they are not cleared to register for courses for which they are not prepared. In both matters we are responsible to the student requesting the waiver, to the academic department offering the desired course, and even to the other students taking the course. Check perquisite requirements for courses.
Lansing Community College does not require orientation for students transferring in or guest students from another institution. However, we invite you to complete orientation online (for students with a Reading Level 5 or higher) or in person to learn more about how to be successful at LCC.
The Waiver Team will evaluate requests within 1 to 3 business days, and we will e-mail you as soon as we are done. Notice also that you can see your placement levels online by logging in to MyLCC and clicking the "Profile" tab.
After this, you should request your previous university/college(s) to send official transcripts to LCC Registrar's Office. Once the appropriate credits transfer in, these in many cases then can serve as the prerequisite for future classes you need, such that overrides might not be needed.
The following form requires you to log in to your LCC student account. Use the "Activate my account" link if logging in for the first time.

Assessment Document Submission Form
You may be able to waive the placement tests if you have any of the following:
- A high school diploma or GED within the previous 3 years
- Scores on the SAT, ACT, AP, CLEP, or ASVAB tests
- Completed college-level courses
Documentation with a full name and test date is required, but can be unofficial. After you submit your documents we will reply with placement and testing information (if necessary). Use the links in the "Important Links" box to access your document(s) if you have not already done so.
Get Your High School Transcript
Submit your high school transcript or online grade report that shows your overall GPA (e.g. PowerSchool). These can be unofficial documents. If you do not currently have access to either of these you can use the Parchment service and return to this form when you receive a transcript.
Go to the Parchment website to create an account. IMPORTANT: On the final form waive the FERPA statement and check the box that says, "I authorize a copy of my credentials to be stored in my Parchment account where I can view and manage the documents." This allows you to view an unofficial document.
