LCC presents Native American Heritage Month

November 20, 2017

Lansing - Lansing Community College is in the midst of its month long celebration of Native American Heritage Month.

This is a time to celebrate the rich and diverse culture, traditions and history of Native people, while acknowledging the significant contributions they have made.

The month is also an opportune time to create awareness about tribes and the unique challenges Native people have faced both historically and present day, and to celebrate their resiliency in conquering these challenges.

A variety of free events and activities continues at the Centre for Engaged Inclusion, 4 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27 with Movie Monday and the showing of Drunktown's Finest. Lite refreshments will be served.

Join us in the Arts and Sciences Building, Room 401, 4 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30 for the Native American Art Dedication and Blessing. Come celebrate with the Native American community to formally dedicate and bless the newest Native American painting displayed in the arts and sciences building on the third floor. The Artist is Patricia Bellerose. The painting depicts a mother and daughter dancing in a traditional Native American pow wow. Lite refreshments will be served. Please RSVP by November 27.
