UPS ranked as one of the best places to launch a career by Business Week magazine
UPS ranked as one of the best places to launch a career by Business Week magazine.

In its inaugural year, Business Week’s “Best Places to Launch a Career” list ranked UPS 24th out of 50 other companies.

The magazine began with 100 separate organizations and trimmed the list to the final 50 based on the company’s reputation as a good place to work for entry level employees seeking career opportunities in a corporate environment.

Variables considered in the survey included feedback from students, college career counselors, and employers themselves.

UPS holds steady as one of Business Week’s best Global Brands
UPS ranked 32 out of 100 brands in Business Week’s 2006 Best Global Brands issue - the same position held the year before. Business Week cited the company’s China-to-U.S. routes are “paying off handsomely,” while a big contract to consolidate shipments for Dell is providing a boost back at home in this issue. UPS was the highest ranked transportation corporation on the list.

Inbound Logistics readers rank UPS SCS number one for global logistics

UPS captured the top spot for 2006 in Inbound Logistic’s 3PL Excellence Awards for the fourth consecutive year. Nearly 3,500 readers ranked more than 350 third-party logistics companies operating worldwide in the magazine’s survey.

According to the magazine, UPS SCS was chosen based on criteria including customer service, reliablility and the entrant’s ability to establish good customer relationships.

UPS honored for its customer service in Ireland
Quest Media Limited, along with the Irish Independent Newspaper, awarded UPS’s Swiss Call Centre as its customer service team of the year under its general company category.

UPSer Melanie Gillard, team leader at the European Customer Service Center, was also honored as the group’s CSC Professional of the year. Gillard began her career at UPS in January 2005 in Switzerland.

UPS takes the gold for outstanding performance from Chrysler Group
For the 12th consecutive year, UPS was awarded the DaimlerChrysler, Chrysler Group Gold Award by the company’s Corporate Logistics division. This achievement places UPS among the highest rated logistics and transportation service suppliers to the Chrysler Group. The selection criteria for the award include overall quality of service, technology enhancements, cost reduction efforts and continued support of minority suppliers.

In 2005, UPS delivered more than 9 million packages for Chrysler Group with on-time performance rating of 97.71 percent.

UPS recognized by Sears Holding for a year of success
UPS was given a host of accolades from Sears Holding Company for outstanding service in 2005, including its highest honor for suppliers.

The Supplier of the Year, Non-Merchandise/Service Category was presented to UPS and is recognized by Sears as its top awards honor. UPS was also chosen for Carrier of the year in the transportation category as well as The Partner in Progress Award, given to the company’s top 70 out of 10,000 total suppliers.

Sears cites UPS as an integral part of the company’s successful integration of Sears and K-Mart stores in 2005. 1,400 stores nationwide were integrated into an automated shipping system and eliminated the company’s previous paper based system. The new set-up provided Sears holding with new visibility solutions, tools and signifgant cost savings for the company’s freight operations.

UPS also delivered a near perfect on-time performance rating in 2005, allowing K-mart and Sears stores to meet demands and ease the integration process.

UPS Executive Communications honored with Silver Anvil Award

UPS Executive Communications, a function within UPS Public Relations, earned a 2006 Silver Anvil award for its global trade symposia series, Longitudes. The entry, "Longitudes: Mapping a Course to C-Level Customers," won in the Marketing Business-to-Business category.

The Silver Anvil is the highest honor in the public relations industry. Known as the "Oscars of PR," the Silver Anvil recognizes excellence in strategic public relations planning and execution. UPS's success was based on the ROI achieved from business development opportunities associated with Longitudes.

Mike Eskew given royal treatment at First Annual Oglethorpe Awards

UPS CEO Mike Eskew was presented the first ever Oglethorpe Award by the British American Business Group’s Atlanta chapter in June. In the spirit of British pageantry, Eskew received a sword from Martin Rickerd, British Consul General for her Royal Majesty representing the Southeast United States.

Eskew was chosen as the award’s first recipient in recognition of his leadership of UPS into burgeoning international markets that compliment the company’s global package delivery and logistics operations.

Founded in 1976, the BABG Atlanta chapter has approximately 400 members offering resources for doing business internationally in both Europe and other world markets.

UPS named America’s top brand by American Brand Excellence Awards
The American Brand Excellence Awards ranked UPS as the country’s top business brand for 2006. This is the first year UPS has been ranked number one overall in the competition.

Researchers, in conjunction with American City Business Journals, conducted more than 1000 telephone interviews with CEOs, business owners and Presidents of companies from across the country to determine the winner from 235 different brands.

Respondents ranked UPS highly for “being an industry leader, forward-thinking, easy to use, ethical, popular, and a growing company.” Ninety percent of the respondents said they were familiar with UPS and 91 percent said they use its services regularly.

UPS selected for two awards of excellence by Wal-Mart Stores, Inc.

UPS was selected as the best small package carrier of the year by Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. at its annual Core Carrier Conference in April. UPS was selected based on criteria which took into account revenue, growth, ease of doing business with Wal-Mart, communications, flexibility, dependability, customer service and follow-up to the company's concerns and issues.

UPS was also honored with Wal-Mart's "Excellence in Service Leadership" award for its relief efforts during hurricanes Katrina and Rita. UPS was recognized for its integral role in moving supplies and delivering employee paychecks, as well as supplying vital tracking reports to Wal-Mart and SAM'S CLUB to help customers re-route shipments affected by the disaster.

UPS tops rankings in Fortune’s Most Admired Global Companies
FORTUNE magazine ranked UPS the number one most admired Delivery Company in the world in 2006 as part of its annual “most admired” survey. In the rankings for the Delivery industry, UPS was rated No. 1 with a composite score of 8.38 on a 10-point scale. Only four other companies out of the hundreds surveyed matched or exceeded that composite score in any industry. Overall, UPS placed in the top 10 among all companies of the world in eight of the nine attributes used to judge corporate reputation.

UPS tops rankings in Fortune’s most Admired American Companies
UPS ranked number one in the category of delivery for the 2006 “America’s Most Admired Companies” survey by FORTUNE Magazine. The placement is based on 10- point scale that derives from eight separate attribute measurements: Innovation, People Management, Use of Corporate Assets, Social Responsibility, Quality of Management, Financial Soundness, Long Term Investment and Quality of products and services. UPS ranked in the Top 10 across all of corporate America in seven of the eight criteria used by the magazine to rank companies, including a No. 1 ranking for social responsibility for the third straight year.

UPS SCS awarded the Hitachi GST award for superior service
UPS Supply Chain Solutions, the supply chain unit of UPS, was awarded the "Excellent Partner Award" by Hitachi Global Storage Technologies, one of the premier hard disk drive manufacturers and technology companies in the world. The award is the Yokohama based company's highest award for suppliers, which recognizes UPS SCS for its global logistics services. UPS SCS was the only logistics company cited among award recipients.

UPS Supply Chain Solutions named North America’s largest logistics company by Transport Topics magazine
Citing the acquisition of Menlo Worldwide Forwarding, Transport Topics magazine named UPS Supply Chains Solutions the largest logistics operation in North America for 2005. Menlo, who as a separate company was ranked 5th in 2004, was purchased by UPS in December last year. The acquisition, according to Transport Topics, expanded UPS's scope and added additional revenue streams to claim the top spot. The addition of Overnite Transportation by UPS in August was not factored in the 2005 ranking process.

Scotts Miracle Gro Company honors Overnite with two service awards
Scotts Miracle-Gro Company, the world’s leading marketer of lawn and garden supplies, honored UPS Company Overnite Transportation with two service awards in 2005. The Scotts Miracle-Gro Distribution award was presented to Overnite in recognition of "exceptional service" provided to Scotts' customer returns program. Overnite also took home the Prestige award for its servicing of Scotts warehouse and mixing plant locations - particularly in the Columbus, Ohio hub location for Overnite.

Overnite Transportation, a UPS company, rated nation’s best for online service
The Customer Respect Group ranked Overnite Transportation as the top company out of 2,000 businesses for how it treats its online customers in 2005. Overnite also took top honors in the category of Transportation, Distribution and Logistics. The accolade was the result of a year long series of surveys that measured an online customer’s experience and then assigned a Customer Respect Index (CRI) to the given company. Measuring qualities such as simplicity, responsiveness, privacy, attitude and principles, survey participants gave Overnite a total CRI score of 8.7 - a full 1.7 points higher than the transportation industry’s average rating of 7.0, according to the Customer Respect Group.

UPS recognized in The Wall Street Journal Corporate Reputation List for 2005
UPS ranked 4th in the annual The Wall Street Journal/Harris Interactive Corporate Reputation Study. UPS was ranked as the top company for sincerity in the study and ranked second in overall trust, ethical standards and customer service. Approximately 20,000 people took part in the survey and were asked to rate 60 different companies based on 20 different attributes. UPS was found to be the company with the greatest word-of-mouth impact, which, according to Harris Interactive, means UPS's services are often a topic of discussion amongst businesses and the general public. Overall, UPS ranked 5th in the 2004 study.

UPS Asia Pacific Region wins public relations award
UPS Asia Pacific Region, in cooperation with Ogilivy Public Relations Asia, received the prestigious Gold award from Media Magazine Nov. 2 during its 5th annual Asia Pacific PR awards in Hong Kong.

The award was in recognition of UPS's 1st ever Asian Business Monitor campaign - an initiative which amassed the opinions and habits of more than 1,200 decision makers from Asian small and medium sized enterprises (SME). The monitor's intent is to provide UPS and its customers a better understanding of the issues driving Asian business through the eyes of SME's in the Asian Pacific Region.

In addition to the Gold Award, UPS was presented a certificate of excellence in Marketing Communications under the "Business" category as well.

UPS leads industry in Best Practices Survey
Parcel Shipping and Distribution Magazine’s eighth annual “Best Practices Survey” listed UPS as the preferred carrier in the shipping industry. UPS placed first in five categories including Customer Service, On-time Service Performance, Delivery Performance, Claims Processing and Refunds for Late Delivery. The survey analyzes over 300 different shipping operations.

UPS takes home 2005 Carrier of the year award from NASSTRAC
UPS was selected as top carrier in the Small Package category this year during NASSTRAC (The National Small Shipments Traffic Conference) for its Carrier of the Year Awards program. Sponsored by Logistics Magazine, this is the first year Small Package has been established as a discrete category. The award was based on a number of criteria including customer service, operational excellence, pricing, business relationships and leadership.

UPS chosen for customer loyalty award by Brandweek magazine
Brandweek magazine presented UPS with one of its 2005 Customer Loyalty Awards in September for the category of transportation. Founded in 1999, the awards are presented to companies who consumer base remains loyal despite competition from other businesses. UPS was chosen based on an index that probed customers' relationships with 222 brands in 35 categories. The index revealed drivers that bond customers with the "ideal" brand in each category, according to Brandweek.

UPS presented award for excellence in business branding
In September 2005, UPS was lauded for its global brand initiative with the 2005 "Excellence in Business-to-Business Branding" by the Zyman Institute of Band Science (ZIBS) at Emory University. The ZIBS Distinguished Practice Award, which has three separate classifications, is presented each year to brand management professionals who lead their chosen field in branding science.

UPS Makes Businessweek/Interbrand top 100 Global Brands Listing
Of the world’s 100 most powerful names, UPS ranked 32nd in the 2005 BusinessWeek/Interbrand most valuable global brands listing. According to BusinessWeek, these are companies that “…best built their brands - and made them stick.” It is also noteworthy that UPS was the only company in its industry to be ranked among this “Who’s Who” of global corporations.

UPS awarded the Excellence in Supply Chain Award by Best Buy
UPS was awarded the Excellence in Supply Chain Award by Best Buy, Inc. during its annual Transportation Partner Conference. This is the fourth consecutive year that UPS has been chosen for this award, which is the highest honor presented to Best Buy's carriers. This year’s recognition was for UPS Trade Direct Cross Border where packages are sent from the Best Buy photo lab in Canada southbound into the U.S. to Best Buy customers.

In June 2004, the New York American Marketing Association presented UPS and The Martin Agency with a Gold EFFIE award for the What Can Brown Do For You?® advertising campaign saying "the brand has engaged new audiences and the power of "Brown" is being felt from the mailroom to the boardroom."

UPS manager named Security Professional of the Year by American Trucking Association
Richard L. Germer, Global Security Manager for UPS Supply Chain Solutions, was honored April 20, 2004 as American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) Security Professional of the Year.

Germer accepted the award, saying “I am fortunate to have the support of a company that makes security a priority, providing me the staffing, empowerment and tools to help implement and manage a worldwide network of security and loss prevention processes and systems."

J.D. Power and Associates Ranks UPS Highest in Customer Satisfaction
UPS was ranked highest in customer satisfaction for domestic air, ground and international delivery, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2004 Small-Package Delivery Service Business Customer Satisfaction StudySM released in April 2004.

"Overall," J.D. Power concluded, "UPS (is) demonstrating a strong commitment to customer satisfaction."

In December 2003, The UPS Store was ranked sixth among all franchise opportunities in Entrepreneur magazine's 25th anniversary Franchise 500. This compares with a 15th place ranking last year and the 11th spot the year before. The publication considers numerous factors in its ranking, including financial strength and stability, growth rate, and size of the system.

For the second year in a row, Chief Executive magazine teamed with Hewitt Associates, a global human resources consulting firm, to identify the Top 20 Companies for Leaders. A panel of judges from Chief Executive and Hewitt Associates selected UPS, along with 19 others, from survey of several hundred major companies. UPS also was featured on the cover of the September issue of Chief Executive magazine.

UPS leadership receives recognition in Asia

Because he represents UPS, former Asia Pacific Region Manager Charles Adams was recognized for his contributions to the Philippines. He was awarded an honorary doctorate in Business Administration form Angeles University, the largest University in the Philippines' central province. Charles has served on the Singapore Economic Development Board and is well known throughout the transportation industry.

Since 1988, UPS has been building it presence and brand recognition in Asia. The company is considered a key contributing organization to the Republic of the Philippines because it has created career opportunities throughout the country and helps link it to major markets in Asia through its intra-Asia hub.

In April 2003, World Trade named UPS Supply Chain Solutions's Trade Direct Cross Border as a product being one of the "most innovative uses of technology." UPS Supply Chain Solutions earned the SCTi award based on evaluations received from World Trade writers, contributing editors, its advisory board and a random sampling of 1,500 World Trade readers. The award also cited UPS's ocean services. UPS Trade Direct Cross Border is a unique international trade solution that streamlines the movement of freight and packages from Mexico into the United States.

UPS named RJ Reynolds' 2002 'Carrier of the Year'
RJ Reynolds' 2002 "Carrier of the Year," the highest level of recognition awarded by the company, denotes outstanding performance in the small package category. Winners are evaluated on time in transit, claims activity and on-time reporting. Based on RJ Reynolds' percentage scale, participants must achieve an overall score 95 points or better for the year to be considered for an award. UPS achieved an overall score of 100 points in 2002.

Sears names UPS to its 2002 Partners in Progress
Sears named UPS as one of its 2002 Partners in Progress for "consistently exceeding on-time service requirements and providing innovative custom solutions that reduced overall costs for Sears by leveraging efficiencies within the UPS network." UPS was one of only 115 chosen for the award from the thousands of Sears' vendors.

Total Research, which conducts the well-known Equitrend survey to track consumer brand perception every six months, performed a special analysis covering the entire Equitrend run from its inception in 1990 to today.
