Review: Nola Bistro's food is yummy
Nola Bistro at 603 N. Waverly Road on Lansing's west side is an eight-minute commute from LCC. This Vietnamese restaurant is packed with flavor and great service.
Nola Bistro has mid-range to high prices, with dishes generally swinging around the $10 to $20 range. The restaurant is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
This bistro has traditional Vietnamese and Cajun dishes, ranging from New Orleans seafood gumbo to Pho. The menu has a diverse selection of foods.
It was my first time at this restaurant, so I wanted to try something new. First, I ordered the Chai hot tea, which delightfully came with hot water and honey. I then started my food order.
For food, I wasn't sure where to start. I was deciding between getting Pho, the New Orleans seafood gumbo, or the shrimp spring rolls with peanut dipping sauce. So, I ordered them all.
I visited this restaurant with my sister, who is an equally huge foodie. She decided she would dive into the Pho, while I focused on the gumbo. We also ordered two spring rolls, which came first.
I really enjoyed the gumbo, which I ordered without sausage. I enjoyed the option to customize the dish, since I don't eat pork. The Pho was also great, but it was a bit sweet, which threw me off. The spring rolls were okay. I expected them to be a little fresher, but it wasn't too bothersome.
Overall, I enjoyed my visit to the Nola Bistro. I see myself coming back and ordering new things. Stop by Nola Bistro for some great food!
