How can retirees and alumni access the Fitness Center?
From Jan. 1, 2025 – June 30, 2025, LCC alumni and retirees are invited to use the West Campus Fitness Center using their existing StarCard. The West Campus Fitness Center is open 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday.
Please note: LCC alumni and retirees who did not use their StarCard to access any LCC Fitness Center during the fall 2024 semester will not have access to the Fitness Center after December 2024.
Beginning July 1, 2025, all alumni and retirees will need a new retiree/alumni StarCard to use the West Campus Fitness Center.
How can retirees and alumni access the Fitness Center after July 1, 2025?
You will need to fill out a form and pay a $120 annual membership fee to receive a new retiree/alumni StarCard.
How does LCC define “alumni” and “retiree”?
To be considered an alum, you need to have earned a degree or certificate from LCC. To be considered a retiree, you need to have retired from LCC and meet the criteria defined on the LCC Retiree Perks webpage, as confirmed by Human Resources.
Alumni who do not meet this definition but have been active Fitness Center users will be considered legacy users and will have access to the West Campus Fitness Center after July 1, 2025, so long as they fill out the form and pay the annual membership fee.
Can qualifying retirees and alumni sign up for a membership in January 2025?
The membership form and payment process are not yet available. We will develop it throughout the spring semester and plan to make it available to you by the beginning of summer, in advance of July 1.
Which Fitness Centers can retirees and alumni use?
The West Campus Fitness Center only. The Downtown Campus fitness facilities will be available only to current students and employees.
Which West Campus building entrance can retirees and alumni use?
The main entrance. All other building entrances will remain locked.
During what hours can alumni and retirees use the West Campus Fitness Center?
6 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday, except when the college is closed for holidays and breaks.
Will alumni and retiree members need a new StarCard?
Not until July 1, 2025. From January through June, retirees and alumni who were active Fitness Center users in fall 2024 will be able to access the West Campus Fitness Center using their existing StarCard. Beginning July 1, all retirees and alumni will need a new alumni/retiree StarCard.
To get a new card, you will need to fill out a form and pay a $120 annual membership fee. That process is not yet available, but we plan to have it ready by early summer.
What is the reason for these changes?
LCC has been evaluating changes to our building access in the wake of campus tragedies across the country. We did not make this decision lightly, but need to prioritize safety.
Will retirees and alumni be able to access other LCC buildings or use the LCC Library?
The new alumni/retiree StarCards will only provide access to the West Campus main entrance from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday.
We are continuing to explore solutions for Library usage, but an alternative option is not guaranteed.
