Advanced Rider Course
The Advanced Rider Course is for riders who already have their endorsement and who want to sharpen their riding skills. The course is beneficial for riders on any type of street motorcycle. The one-day course complements a rider's basic skills and helps with personal risk assessment, through:
- A fast-paced classroom segment with several interactive activities to improve perception and hazard awareness
- Range exercises to enhance both basic skills and crash avoidance skills
- Instruction on improving braking and cornering finesse
- Evaluating riding style and improving baseline skills along with learning advanced techniques for handling quick stops, cornering and curves
Students must provide their own motorcycle and proof of insurance. The motorcycle must be properly titled and registered, display a valid license plate and pass a safety inspection.
Prerequisites:
- Must hold a valid driver’s license with a motorcycle endorsement
- Current motorcycle riding experience/basic motorcycle skills
- This course requires the use of a participant’s personal motorcycle
Recommended:
- It is recommended that a new motorcyclist has ridden at least 3000 miles since becoming endorsed, before taking this class.
The Advanced Rider Class is a one-day Rider Improvement Course lasting approximately 7 hours. There is a total of 11 classroom-type activities and 10 riding exercises.
PLEASE NOTE: Basic operational skills will be assessed in a required riding exercise. Participants who don’t pass the screening exercise, as assessed by the instructors, will not be allowed to continue. (No refunds; No transfers).
- Participants must bring plenty of water and a non-perishable lunch/snacks and eat outdoors or in their vehicles.
- DOT-compliant or Snell-approved helmet (Required for all students to wear during the safety training course)
- Eye protection
- Long-sleeved shirt or jacket
- Long, non-flare pants made of denim or equivalent or more durable material
- Full fingered gloves (preferably leather)
- Over the ankle boots (leather preferred over cloth or canvas – high-top sneakers are not allowed)
- A valid Driver’s License

Motorcycle Safety Course Info
Requirements: Participants must have the ability to ride a bicycle.
Instructors: Your class will be taught by Rider Coaches who are certified by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation and have years of experience.
What We Supply: Motorcycles used in endorsement training and classroom materials
What You Will Need To Bring:
- Valid Michigan Driver's License (minimum Level 1)
- DOT-compliant or Snell-approved helmet (Required for all students to wear during the safety training course)
- Eye protection
- Long-sleeved shirt or jacket
- Long, non-flare pants made of denim or equivalent or more durable material
- Full fingered gloves (preferably leather)
- Over the ankle boots (leather preferred over cloth or canvas – high-top sneakers are not allowed)

Important Information
- You will be dismissed from the course if you present a danger to your safety or the safety of others during any exercise or evaluation in the course.
- You must have no medical conditions or mental or physical limitations that would affect your learning or your safety or the learning or safety of others.
- You must have not used, or be under the influence of alcohol, prescription or non-prescription drugs or any other substance that could impair your performance in the course.
- Sessions will be offered on a first come, first serve basis by registration with Lansing Community College. (We ride rain or shine)
