Ready to Get Started at LCC?
You can get a head start with the enrollment process by heading to lcc.edu/getstarted. If you’ve started your application and other steps to enrollment, you can spend more time talking to program faculty, advisors and success coaches at the Program and Career Showcase.
If you’re more comfortable meeting with someone face-to-face, you can visit the StarZone, LCC’s student services hub, before (or after) the Program and Career Showcase. In the StarZone, you can get admissions help as well as meet with academic and financial aid advisors.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to frequently asked questions.
Q: What if I am undecided on college, can I still attend?
A: Of course! You can explore and experience possible careers, fields of study and learn about financial aid – these are not LCC-specific topics.
Q: I do not graduate high school this year, is this event for me?
A: This event is perfect for you. You can explore fields of study and get ideas for your future career. There is no pressure to commit to LCC (though we think we’re awesome and hope you will too).
Q: How much does it cost?
A: The event is 100% free. Free parking, free admission, and commitment free!
Q: Where can I park?
A: Free parking is available in the LCC Gannon Ramp off Grand Avenue. Metered parking is also available off-street surrounding the Downtown Campus. In addition, there are several bus stops near campus.
Q: Can my friends and family join me? Do they need to pre-register?
A: The more the merrier. As long as one guest preregisters, no need for their entourage to register. In the registration form there is an option to indicate the number of guests, which helps us determine how many snacks and beverages to order.
Q: Can I apply to the college at the event?
A: Of course! We will have the Application Station in the StarZone open during the entire event. LCC enrollment staff will be ready to help you with your application, if needed. Just make sure you know your social security number, residential address and contact information.
It is advised that all students apply for financial aid and complete the FAFSA at fafsa.gov. Be sure to enter LCC's school code: 002278. If you need help during any step with this process, visit the StarZone at LCC's Downtown Campus in the Gannon Building or call 517-483-1957.
Q: I have earned some college credits from a different institution, can I learn more about what credits transfer to LCC?
A: Absolutely! Though our motto is "Start here. Get there." LCC also has a lot of "transfer-in" students. Advisors work with you to create a detailed academic plan, which includes identifying what credits you can use from a previous experience toward your LCC academic goal.
Q: I want to get a bachelor's degree, and master's degree thereafter, can I learn more about transfer programs at this event?
A: Yes! Our motto is "Start here. Get there." "There" refers to your academic and personal goals. Our advisors work with you to create a detailed academic plan including preparation for transferring to complete your undergraduate degree and beyond. This goal is so common at LCC, that we invited five of Michigan's best universities to join our University Center, where you can achieve your bachelor's or master's degree right on LCC's Downtown Campus.
Q: Do I have to be present to win the scholarship?
A: No, we understand attendees cannot stay for the entire event. As long as you check-in at the event and preregistered, you will be eligible for the scholarship drawing.
Q: I would like to come, but I am unable to make it. What are my options?
A: We offer campus visits and have expert staff to help you explore program and career options. Visit our Campus Tours webpage to schedule a campus visit and request information.
