The LCC History program hosts various events throughout the year exploring ideas, concepts, spaces, places, events and people with a historical lens. These events encourage students, faculty, staff and community members to engage in their love of history.
Events include:
- LCC- Historians at the Movies – A monthly gathering to watch films and discuss virtually with fellow viewers through WebEx chat or on Twitter using #LCCHATM. The 2022-23 lineup features Coco, Hocus Pocus, Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, Sandlot, The Color Purple, Turning Red and Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
- Reading with Historians – Each year, the History program selects a book to read and explore together. For the fall semester, we will be reading Never Caught: The Washingtons' Relentless Pursuit of Their Runaway Slave, Ona Judge by Erica Armstrong Dunbar. For the spring semester, we will be reading Bring the War Home: The White Power Movement and Paramilitary America by Kathleen Belew. Seating is limited to 15 individuals/semester, and each will receive copies of that semester's book. Please contact Anne Heutsche at heutsa@lcc.edu if you are interested in participating.
- Visiting History Scholar Series – History professors are invited to campus to engage with the LCC community in relevant historical topics. The 2022-23 Visiting History Scholar will be Dr. Robin Morris.
