Summer Stage Under the Stars 2017

LCC's annual performing arts festival presents two plays under the stars in the beautiful outdoor amphitheatre, and four nights of new dance in the air conditioned-comfort of Dart Auditorium.

All performances begin at 7 p.m. and are free!

William Shakespeare's Land of the Dead

By John Heimbuch, directed by John Lennox

Fed up with post-apocalyptic zombie shows? Transport yourself to the backstage of the Globe Theatre with William Shakespeare and his acting troupe as they fight the zombie horde that's taking over Elizabethan London.

Suggested audience: Some scary bits so best for 10+, and braver younger ones.

Failure: A Love Story

By Philip Dawkins, directed by Andy Callis

The power of love chimes far greater than any individual's success or failure in this magical, musical fable. By the end of 1928, all three Fail sisters will be dead, and the same man will have fallen in love with each. Tuneful songs and a whimsical chorus follow the sisters' story as they live their lives above the family clock repair shop, before their time unexpectedly runs out.

Suggested audience: Movement & music will entertain, though sophisticated material may be best suited for older youth as well as adults.

DANCE Lansing

This exciting annual event features four nights of new dances, giving audiences an opportunity to appreciate modern and contemporary dance, and enriching performance and development opportunities for area choreographers and dancers. The collaboration is founded by partners Happendance and LCC Performing Arts and now includes associates Everett High School Dance Program, Fusion Dance Center, Greater Lansing Academy of Dance, MICA Gallery, Michigan State University Department of Theatre, and MSU Orchesis.

Suggested audience: ages 6+, though concerts may run 90 minutes to 2 hours.
