COMMON GROUND PARKING INFO

LCC is once again a co-sponsor of the Common Ground Festival to be held July 7-13.  Following are street and parking lot restrictions during the festival:

Street Closures

Starting Thursday, July 3, at 4 p.m. until Tuesday, July 15, the City of Lansing will close Grand Avenue between Shiawassee and Saginaw streets. Shiawassee will be closed between Cedar Street and Grand Avenue.

LCC Lot N

Beginning July 3 through July 13, LCC Lot N (southwest corner of Shiawassee and Grand Avenue) will be used by the Common Ground Festival and unavailable for LCC use. LCC employees are encouraged to use other employee parking lots.  Location of additional employee parking lots may be found at: http://www.lcc.edu/parking/faculty_staff_parking/index.htm.

LCC Parking Ramp (Grand Ave.) & Schoolcraft Street

Beginning Monday, July 7, through Sunday, July 13, LCC employees and students may park in the LCC Parking Ramp (Grand Ave.) without being charged parking fees, although you must show your StarCard if requested.  LCC employees and students will have access only to the first and second floors of the ramp. The only exit from the Parking Ramp will be the Schoolcraft Street Exit.

Directions to the LCC Parking Ramp or to access Schoolcraft Street:

·         Head EAST on Saginaw St. and turn RIGHT on Grand Avenue. Grand Avenue will be completely closed south of the LCC Parking Ramp.

Evening and Weekend Parking

From July 7 through July 13, LCC will allow the Common Ground Festival to use our parking spaces in the evenings and on weekends. Only people with a StarCard or a Common Ground special pass will be able to park in LCC parking lots after 4 p.m. You may have to show your StarCard to a security officer.

DON’T FORGET TO BRING YOUR STARCARD!

If you have any problems with Common Ground Security when accessing LCC lots, please call 483-1800 immediately to report the issue.

For more information, visit http://www.lcc.edu/parking/announcements/index.htm or call Police and Public Safety at 517-483-1800.

Thank you for patience and flexibility.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY

The City of Lansing Department of Planning and Neighborhood Development announces that on Wednesday, March 26, 2008, Grand Avenue will be fully closed to all traffic between St. Joseph Street and Lenawee Street and between Washtenaw Street and Ottawa Street to facilitate construction on the City of Lansing’s Combined Sewer Overflow Control Project.  This construction is expected to last until November.

Access to businesses adjacent the construction zone will be maintained. Motorists are advised to expect delays and seek alternate routes whenever possible. For additional information and construction updates, visit: www.lansingcso.com

For those students and employees who normally access LCC buildings and LCC parking (including the Gannon Parking Ramp) via Grand Avenue, please use an alternate route.

Alternate Route #1 (if coming from the west or southwest): take Walnut Street north to Ionia Street, turn right and proceed to Grand Avenue, turn left onto Grand Avenue (this will allow access to LCC buildings and parking north of Ionia Street).

Alternate Route #2 (if coming from the east or southeast):  Take Larch Street north to Shiawassee Street, turn left onto Shiawassee Street and proceed to Grand Avenue, turn right onto Grand Avenue (this will allow access to LCC buildings and parking north of Grand Avenue). If using this route and access to LCC buildings and parking between Ionia Street and Shiawassee Street is needed (Lots N and S and AOF), do not turn on Grand Avenue; instead, proceed to Washington Avenue and turn left, go to Ionia Street and turn left proceeding to Grand Avenue, turn left onto Grand Avenue.

If you park in the City of Lansing’s North Grand Avenue / Expansion Parking Ramp, Allegan Street (the intersection of Washington Square and Allegan Street will operate as a FOUR WAY STOP) and Ottawa Street will be converted to two-way traffic between Grand Avenue and Washington Square in order to facilitate access to the parking ramp.

For further information, please check the City of Lansing website listed above.
