Lyn Peraino’s broadcasting career
started in 1984 as a student at Specs Howard School of Broadcasting in
Southfield. She began doing commercial voice-overs while in school and
continued working on air in various markets throughout Michigan
including Petoskey, Saginaw and Lansing as well as WNOR in Norfolk,
Virginia.
Lyn started concentrating heavily on doing commercial
production as an additional source of income in 1993. She has done
studio session work for local, national and for business clients from
around the globe. Her voice has been included in information, teaching
and training videos, on hold telephone services and countless
commercials advertisements over the years.
"The internet has opened a whole new opportunity for
those interested in working in media," says Peraino, talking about the
recent changes in voice-over production services. "The focus seems to
have shifted from the large recording studio to an emphasis on the ease
and variety of talent available at a moment’s notice. The in-home studio
set-up is more likely to be the norm these days rather than the
exception."
Although Lyn continues to do voice-work for a number of
agencies and broadcast facilities, she currently works as the radio
program director at WLNZ, the National Public Radio affiliate at Lansing
Community College where she spends most of her time programming the
station and working with students in the media services department at
the college. Lyn has just returned back to college herself as a student
to pursue additional degrees in business and management.
